Hwar Do
Hwar Do is a combination of many different types of martial arts. It is influenced by Hapkido, Tae Kwon Do, Kung Fu, Karate, and Judo. Click on the links to read more about these types of martial arts in Wikipedia.
Hwar Do is also the way towards a growing mind. A peaceful, gentle, strong mind is needed as well as a strong body. Hwar Do is further modeled after the fighting styles of certain animals. The tiger, cobra, and eagle are just a few. Self-defense has become more important in recent years. Every person has the power and ability to fight in self-defense, but few truly understand how to use it. People think of themselves as weak because they do not know how to use their strength. Therefore, Hwar Do is a way for individuals to discover their way to channel their strength, especially self-defense.
Hwar Do consist of three types of techniques:
- Hard techniques include punching, kicking, poomsees (forms), and sparring.
- Soft techniques use pressure points, joint locks, twists, flips, and correct falling techniques.
- Special techniques include kicking techniques, breaking techniques, proper breathing control to develop inner power, exercise, energy, and weapons training.
